DOUBLE EXPOSURE EXERCISE

MODULE INFORMATION BOOKLET

LECTURE

REFER TO WEEK 5

TUTORIAL and PRACTICAL

We were asked to follow the tutorial video that was provided by Mr. Fauzi by using our own picture as a practice before doing our poster that was combine with our other module which was Illustration and Visual Narrative.

  • Progress

I start by selecting the area that I wanted to cut out by using the selection brush tool and after that I use the select and mask tool to define out the edges, make it look more natural and not chunky on the edges.

After cutting the main object out, I proceed to choose the new layer with layer mask to make it into another new layer with the cut-out object. After that, I choose the white gray color for the color fill background.

After all that, I used one of the photographs that I took of Mont St Michel to embed it into the body. I used the same method above except this one doesn't need to be cut out and also, I change it into overlay effect. I realize there was some part that was covering the face, so I decided to erase some of it using the eraser tool.

I copy and paste the same picture of the Mont St Michel and reflected it horizontally. I find the bottom part unnecessary, so I erase it out following the outer line of the building.

I added another element that was provided by Mr. Fauzi and apply the same method with overlay effects.

At the end, I also adjust the adjustment and play with the filters. I increased the saturation of the picture and also brightness as well as contrast to create this brown vintage effect.

FINAL OUTCOME

THE QUOTE: Nature proves the ending is just as beautiful as the beginning

THE SKETCHES:

  • Progress
I choose this photograph to be the background. I also adjust the saturation and hue to make the sunset color more appealing.

I applied overlay effect on this forest image just to get the silhouette of it.
