EXERCISES

WEEK 1

EXERCISE 1:

- For this week's exercise, Mr. Kannan gave us two exercises, which were both arranging the video clips that were provided by Mr. Kannan himself. One of them was an advertisement about mints, which was also a step-by-step guide by Mr. Kannan on how to use Adobe Premiere to rearrange all the clips in the correct sequence. Meanwhile, the other clip was an advertisement for Doritos. For this one, we were asked to arrange the video ourselves at home with the knowledge that we got from Mr. Kannan in class earlier.

EXERCISE 3:

- For this exercise, we were required to watch the famous Zach King's videos, and after watching most of the videos, we had to list down three of our favorite videos that we had watched. For each of the three videos that we chose, we have to explain why we chose it in terms of style, art direction, and more.

- First of all, it is amazing to watch, not only for grown-ups but particularly for young people nowadays. It will definitely attract many viewers. This video produces an effect of something that looks quite impossible to make through merging the art elements with reality filming.

Also, what I appreciate about this video is that it uses some really smooth visual effects. They are absolutely invisible when the transition from one picture to another takes place.

- From the first impression, the scene seems clear-cut: the image of a ladder is spray-painted on the wall surface, much like graffiti and mural painting. As the drawing of the ladder is made to look real enough, such an artistic technique gives the video additional attractiveness. The realistic representation of the ladder is emphasized by the application of perspective and shading.

To highlight the optical illusion in the video, the production employs direct lighting, clean background, and different camera angles. The viewer can easily distinguish the shift from art to reality since the background is almost nonexistent. On the whole, the video is compelling because of its unconventional street art technique and brilliant visual effects.

- My preferred parts of the visual aspects are the transitions involving the moon. It looks magical while it moves from one part of the image to another. The transition has been made such that it appears as if someone is controlling the moon in the image. This has made me feel amazed and awe-struck about the creative aspect involved here.

What I appreciate most is the combination between the camera movements and transitions with the visual aspects. The moon transition has been done excellently with great inventiveness and has integrated well into the entire scene.

EXERCISE 4:

- For exercise 4, we were required to watch a movie that was suggested by Mr. Kannan which was called Everything Everywhere All at Once. After watching the movie, we were asked to write a review of it in terms of, like, its art style.

REVIEW:

However, the design of the movie, its art style, and effects are quite unique and creative. As a means of illustrating the idea of many universes, the movie uses quite a chaotic but creative visual style. Since every universe looks different in terms of colors, design, and even appearance, it becomes easier for the audience to understand that the characters are shifting between various universes.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of the movie is the special effects used throughout the film. This includes fast-cutting scenes, visual layers, and distortion effects, which are often seen in the quick transitions from one realm to another.

Moreover, the movie is effectively exploiting the design principles like emphasis, contrast, and balance. For example, contrasting different universes is done through the use of bright colors and absurd costumes. Scene construction utilizes the principle of emphasis, helping viewers to pay attention to what happens on screen. However, although it may appear that everything is chaotic in the movie, scenes are carefully constructed, making it possible for people to follow the storyline.

EXERCISE 5:

- For exercise 5, we were required to answer the quiz that was prepared by Mr. Kannan after reading the reading materials to understand more about the week 2 lecture.

REFLECTION

WEEK 1

EXERCISE 1:

- Personally, I really enjoy doing Exercise 1 when Mr. Kannan guides us. Sir was really making sure all of us were on track before moving on to the other steps. It was pretty easy for all of us to catch on.

EXERCISE 2:

- For Exercise 2, we were asked to do it at home as a practice to make sure that we understood everything that was taught to us in class. I had no difficulties doing this exercise as well. First, I just created a new sequence and then imported all the videos that were prepared to Adobe Premiere. I then carefully watch each one of the clips one by one and really figure out the sequence of the video. After that, I just arranged the clips according to what I feel it was right. Then I just exported the video with the resolution format of H.264.

EXERCISE 3:

- For exercise 3, I went to multiple websites. I watched mostly all of Zach King's short reels on YouTube and finally chose three that I really enjoy watching and find really fascinating, with the effects and visuals that were in the video. I also watched some of the behind-the-scenes of a few of the videos, and it really made me realize that it is not an easy job to film a video with a lot of visual effects.

EXERCISE 4:

- Exercise 4 was really interesti
