LECTURE

WEEK 4

In this week class, we learnt about perspectives. There is multiple perspective such as one point, two point, three points as well as isometric grid.

  • one point perspective: as image gets closer to the vanishing point, they become smaller.

  • two point perspective: vanishing point on two sides of horizon.

  • three point perspective: consists of two vanishing point on two sides of horizon as well as another addition above or below.

    • isometric grid: allows to clearly present three sides of design.

    WEEK 5

This week lecture was about composition 3 which was planes. There are three types of planes such as foreground, middle ground and background.

    • foreground: objects are the nearest to the viewer.
    • middle ground: objects in between foreground and background.
    • background: objects that are furthest from the viewer.

    TUTORIAL and PRACTICAL

For the past week from week 4 up until week 6 is the weeks where we were all working on our task 1. from time to time, we send our updates on our task to Mr. Hafiz. After sending it, he will give us feedback on our work before we finalize it on adobe illustrator.

    WEEK 4

In this week I sketch my character that I wanted to develop on procreate. To be frank, I was super confuse with the instructions that was given but even with that I still tried to sketch my character. so, I did two sketches of character and send it to Mr. Hafiz and wait for the feedback given.

    FEEDBACK:

Mr. Hafiz asked me to refer back to the framed ink pdf that was given to do my sketches.

    WEEK 5

For this week, I choose one of the sketches that I wanted to do and compile it with the rationale. For the sketches, I chose to go with the 1 sketch character. As for the composition, I go with the center composition from the framed ink pdf.

    FEEDBACK:

For this sketch and the explanation of my character, Mr. Hafiz said the sketches are fine, but it is still lack of composition reference from the framed ink pdf as my character is not huge enough to be the focal point as well as the background still does have a lot of other little side character.

    WEEK 6

For this week, it I the submission week. all of us have to finalize everything for the last time then submit it to the google classroom. We were required to submit out eportfolio link as well as the pdf where there is our character and explanation to it and etc. in the very last minute, I decided to completely change my whole character because I wasn't really satisfied with the character I did previously.

    • progress
I start by sketching out the new character that I want to create and after that I colored it out to kind of see how the character will be after its colored on illustrator.

After that, I start to illustrate it on adobe illustrator. I use quite a lot of tools to create my character. for example, pen tool, pathfinder, brush tool, gradient and etc.

    • first of all, I drew out all the outlines with the pen tool, to keep me on track of my character. Other than that, I also used the curvature tool to help me with all the curves to make it more perfect. as you can see, I open another tab beside it for the reference of my character.

    • after that, I lock the layer of the one with outline and proceed with the pen tool again but this time I used the pen tool that has a color fill to color my character.

    • as you can see here, I duplicated a few layers of the flames in different colors as well as play with the gradient to create an effect of the flames more realistic.

    • at the end, I just use the same method but with different layers to create all the other elements.

    FINAL ARTWORK

    SUBMISSION

    REFLECTION

In this task, I would admit that it was quite difficult for me to carry it out. This is because most of our classes for week 4 until week 6 are online classes. I would say that online classes really make me feel overwhelmed as we can't really carry out the activity like how we carry out it out in physical classes where Mr. Hafiz would walk around and help us out with our progress. Nevertheless, I still gained a lot of knowledge day by day doing activities on adobe. I would say this task was stressful but at the same time enjoyable.
