AFTER EFFECTS EXERCISE

LECTURE

This week lecture is all about the application Adobe After Effects. 


  • What is Adobe After Effects? 
-  Animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing.

  • PRE-COMPOSITING in ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 
-  All the layers are going to be arrange and rename accordingly for it to be easier to understand and work with later on. 

  • PRE-COMPOSITING in ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS 
-  Elements such as images, videos, vectors and more are imported into after effects to make a digital visual effect, motion graphics or compositing application. 




TUTORIAL and PRACTICAL

This week class, Mr. Fauzi provided us with a short tutorial video of how to use after effects. Mr. Fauzi thought us how to apply some transformation to the photoshop file that7 he provided us with. For example, we learned how to apply position transformation as well as scaling. 


Progress 

  • First off, we had to import the W10_ANIMATE.psd that sir provided us with into Adobe After Effects.

  • Create a composition setting with 1080 px (width) x 1920 px (height), duration 15 seconds. 

  • We had to create five folders to make it easier for us to work with. 


  • Import the provided file into After Effects, and make sure it is put under composition - retain layers sizes. 


  • Move the file to the first file that was made which is the 01. COMP file. Other than that, make sure all the files are named accordingly.


  • Select the circle copy element and pressed on the little circle button next to the lock button to only make the circle appear so it doesn't confuse us to work with it. 


  • To edit the transformation, click on the circle copy then there will be a transform option. From there on, I choose to make rotation transformation of 45-degree angle as shown in the tutorial video.


  • I made three points which was, one point with 0-degree at 0 second, one point with 45-degree at 10 seconds and the last point back at 0-degree at 15 seconds. With this, it will start rotating slowly and stop at the very last second.


  • Now, I selected the bigger circle to make the transformation. 


  • For this bigger circle, the transformation made was just the scaling. For the three points, I did the same thing as the smaller circle but just with different scale. 


  • For the fish transformation I did a position transformation to allow the animation to move up and down. This was the last editing that was made as followed in the tutorial video given.

REFLECTION 

For this week 10 task, which was gaining knowledge about Adobe After Effects. Personally, I find it very interesting and useful for future use. I would say from this first exercise with aftereffects it was pretty easy for me. Partly, I think it was also thanks to Mr. Fauzi for providing such a clear tutorial video for us to refer to. I didn't have much trouble while doing this task as I was also very interested and fascinated by the animation we could do. I would love to learn more about what we could do with this application itself.
